Welcome to Elibraries for Schools, a charity dedicated to helping children fall in love with reading
What we do
ELFS works in two areas:
Providing ebooks to children through their schools
We currently provide a fully funded core elibrary aimed at years 5 and 6 to our pilot primary schools.
Campaigning for better access to books for children and young people so they can read for pleasure.
We lobby governments across the UK to implement a National Digital Children’s Library accesssed through schools.

Who we are
We are a charity dedicated to giving children better access to books by providing them with a digital library through their school. We believe that a key reason that children are not reading for pleasure is that they do not have access to books they want to read. Our aim is to put a library in the pocket of every child.

New Pilot Schools
We’d like to welcome our newest pilot schools to the ELFS family:
- Ysgol Y Plas, Llanelian
- Barrassie Primary, South Ayrshire
- Trinity Primary, Henley
- Woodlands Primary, Ealing
- Sandhill Primary, Barnsley
- Hugh Gaitskill Primary, Leeds
We are very excited to have you on board! You can see more about our pilot schools here.
Policy campaigning
We continue to lobby both Scottish and English parliaments to introduce a National Children’s Digital Library. You can see our local MP, Freddie van Mierlo, questioning in parliament the Secretary of State for Education, Bridget Phillipson, here.
Education Select Committee
We submitted evidence based on our pilot to the Education Select Committee in January. The Committee launched an inquiry in 2025 to look at the reasons behind the decline in reading for pleasure and what the Government could do to improve the situation.
National Year of Reading 2026
We are helping our pilot schools make the most of the National Year of Reading by providing them with ebooks for their years 5 and 6 so they can find something they want to read.
